Calculate your session's hourly rate
Enter one session or a complete tracking period. Calculations run in your browser. Currency labels do not convert values.
Before tax. Credited reward value is not necessarily cash received or a guaranteed future earning rate.
Download the blank CSV trackerA survey offering $1.20 for ten minutes looks like $7.20 an hour. But what if you spend another ten minutes qualifying for surveys that reject you? Or the reward takes a support ticket to credit? The number on the card describes one opportunity. It does not measure your whole session.
Your effective survey rate is the reward value actually credited, minus required spending, divided by all the active time you spent. The calculator above does that arithmetic. The worksheet below helps you record the parts that are easy to forget.
NitroLoot publishes this resource as a rewards platform. The calculations are platform-neutral, and every earnings example is hypothetical. They are not measurements of NitroLoot users, a comparison of providers, or a prediction of your earnings.
What This Hourly Rate Actually Measures
Use the same period for the rewards, costs, and time. That might be one evening, several sessions, or a week that you have tracked consistently.
Net credited value = credited reward value â required spending and fees
Active minutes = completed-task minutes + unsuccessful-attempt minutes
+ other active minutes
Effective hourly rate = net credited value à 60 á active minutes
Credited means the reward has been added to your balance. A promised or pending payout stays outside this numerator until it credits. If it later arrives, update the original record and recalculate that tracking period. Do not count the reward twice.
Active time includes answering, screening, choosing tasks, setting up a required account, claiming rewards, and handling support. An unsuccessful attempt still used time. A passive approval delay does not count as hours worked, although it affects when you can use the reward.
Required spending includes money you spent to obtain the reward and any redemption fee you incur. Enter it in the same currency as reward value. The result is before tax, and it does not place a monetary value on personal data or account risk.
There is a research reason to take unpaid time seriously. Hara and colleaguesâ 2017 preprint on earnings on Amazon Mechanical Turk explicitly examined how searching, rejected work, and unsubmitted tasks affect wage calculations. It studied a different platform and an earlier period; its payout figures are not estimates for NitroLoot or todayâs survey sites. The relevant lesson here is the measurement boundary: which minutes you include changes the answer.
Worked Example: The Same Rewards, Three Rates
Imagine three completed surveys, each paying $1.20 and each taking ten minutes. The credited reward total is $3.60. Now include what happened around those successful attempts.
| Calculation | Credited value | Required spending | Active time included | Result per hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Completed surveys only | $3.60 | $0 | 30 minutes | $7.20 |
| Include 15 minutes of screenouts and 15 minutes of other activity | $3.60 | $0 | 60 minutes | $3.60 |
| Include the same time and $0.60 of required spending or fees | $3.60 | $0.60 | 60 minutes | $3.00 |
The third row is the example behind the calculatorâs Load worked example button. Its arithmetic is:
($3.60 â $0.60) á (60 á 60) = $3.00 per active hour
The spending is illustrative, not a suggestion that ordinary survey participation should require a purchase. Set it to zero for a session with no costs. If you also use the tool for game or trial offers, record their actual required costs rather than treating the headline reward as profit.
The difference between the first and second rows is especially useful when evaluating âearn $X per hourâ screenshots. Ask whether the person included every attempt and all the surrounding activity. A calculation that omits unsuccessful attempts can be arithmetically correct while answering a narrower question than the reader expects.
A negative result is also possible. If you spend $5 and only $3.60 credits during the period, the net credited value is minus $1.40. Do not clamp it to zero because a negative figure looks discouraging. It tells you something important about the session you measured.
Download the Tracker and Record Every Attempt
Download the blank survey-session tracker or the filled worked example. Open either CSV in Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet app. The filled file contains invented example rows matching the third row of the table above.
Record a row for each attempt. Use separate rows for setup or support that does not belong to one task. You do not need to record your survey answers, personal demographics, passwords, or screenshots in this sheet.
| Column | What to record |
|---|---|
| Date and provider | Enough to identify your session and where it happened |
| Status | Credited, screened out, pending, rejected, or other active work |
| Credited value | Reward value already added to your balance; zero if none |
| Pending value | A separate note of a possible reward, excluded from the calculation |
| Required spending | Costs incurred for the recorded activity |
| Completion minutes | Time on the task itself, without counting it twice elsewhere |
| Screenout minutes | Time on unsuccessful attempts |
| Other active minutes | Searching, setup, claims, or support |
| Currency and notes | One currency per calculation; note bonuses and unusual events |
When a reward is pending, keep the time in the record and put the possible value in Pending value. The initial result may understate what eventually credits. That is a reason to label the period and revisit it, not to silently treat pending rewards as money received.
To calculate the whole sheet, sum the money and minutes first. Do not take an ordinary average of the rowsâ hourly rates. A 30-minute session earning $3 has a $6 hourly rate, while a 90-minute session earning $3 has a $2 rate. Their simple average is $4, but the combined result is $6 over two hours: $3 an hour.
For the supplied column order, this spreadsheet formula calculates net value per active hour across rows 2â100:
=IF(SUM(G2:I100)=0,"",(SUM(D2:D100)-SUM(F2:F100))*60/SUM(G2:I100))
The formula deliberately ignores column E, the pending balance. Some spreadsheet locales use semicolons instead of commas. Use the same currency throughout the summed rows; the currency label does not convert USD into GBP or any other currency.
Convert Points and Gift Cards Without Calling Them Cash
If your account uses coins or points, convert them into a consistently defined reward value before entering an amount. Otherwise the calculator merely reports points per hour, which cannot be compared with a cash rate.
A simple conversion for a specific available reward is:
Reward value per point = value of the chosen reward á points needed for it
Multiply your credited points by that ratio. Use the actual listing and any restrictions. Do not assume the same conversion across different rewards, providers, countries, or redemption sizes.
That still produces a reward-value estimate, not cash in your bank. A gift card you cannot spend, a reward below its redemption threshold, and an unrestricted cash payment are different outcomes. Keep the cash actually received in a separate note if that is what you want to compare.
For a Discord cosmetic or Nitro reward, decide what the item is worth to you before assigning a currency value. Its listed retail price may be more than you would willingly spend on it. If you cannot choose a sensible value, track coins per active hour separately instead of presenting a cash-equivalent earnings claim.
Use the same method across sessions and describe it when sharing a result. âCredited gift-card value per hour, before redemptionâ is more informative than âI made $10 an hourâ when no money has been withdrawn.
Use the Result to Choose Your Next Session
Start with an honest baseline rather than trying to make the number impressive. Track several sessions with different availability and record zero-reward attempts as carefully as successful ones. A handful of sessions can help you make a personal choice; it is not a representative survey of everyone using the platform.
For NitroLoot, begin with the current reward catalog. Pick a reward you would use, read the listing, and then compare the available tasks with the time you are willing to spend. The survey-provider guide explains screenouts and provider differences; the beginner offer guide helps with task requirements.
After a session, ask three practical questions:
- Where did the time go? If screenouts dominate, the problem may be fit or inventory rather than your typing speed. Do not change truthful profile answers just to qualify.
- What is repeatable? A joining bonus or referral reward can increase that periodâs total without describing ordinary survey productivity. Mark those amounts separately in your notes.
- Would I choose this again? Compare the net reward value with the time, effort, and redemption options. A small reward can be worthwhile to one person and a poor use of time for another.
Do not let a nearly reached target turn into unlimited extra attempts. Set a time limit before starting and review the total afterward. Our rewards routine guide covers setting a manageable session instead of repeatedly checking for better offers.
Also distinguish an offerâs disclosed purchase terms from a demand to deposit more money to unlock supposed earnings. The FTCâs task-scam analysis describes scams that show a growing balance and then require deposits to withdraw it. A calculator cannot establish that a balance or platform is genuine. Our rewards account-safety guide covers other warning signs.
Method, Limits, and How to Reference This Resource
This calculator applies the formula above to your inputs. It does not read your NitroLoot balance, fetch exchange rates, estimate your chance of qualifying, or verify whether rewards will be approved. Reloading the page clears the form; keep the CSV if you want a record.
An hour-normalized rate is a comparison tool, not a promise that an hour of available tasks exists. A ten-minute session with a good rate does not imply that you can repeat it six times, every day. Country, eligibility, inventory, task conditions, and approval outcomes can change what is available.
The result is also not a take-home wage or a complete accounting of costs. It subtracts only the spending you enter, excludes tax, and does not automatically allocate your internet bill or equipment costs. If a reward later reverses, update its recorded value and recalculate the affected period.
For an article, forum post, or community guide referencing this method, describe what you included: the tracking period, active minutes, credited versus redeemed value, fees, currency, and treatment of points. Identify the worked examples as hypothetical if you reuse them. Link readers to this page so they can inspect the assumptions and run their own numbers.

The research citation supports counting unpaid activity; it is not a claim that this worksheet reproduces the studyâs methodology or earnings results.
Your next useful step is small: record the whole of one session, including the attempts that earned nothing. That gives you a clearer decision than another screenshot of the largest reward on the page.
